LOCTITE 243 Medium Strength Threadlocker, Blue
LOCTITE 243 is a universal, medium-strength threadlocker designed for securing and sealing metal threaded connections. The anaerobic adhesive cures in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces and reliably prevents loosening caused by shock and vibration.
LOCTITE 243 is suitable for both active metals such as brass and copper and passive materials such as stainless steel and plated surfaces. The medium-strength connection can be disassembled using standard hand tools for maintenance and repair.
The product is certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for use in potable water systems at temperatures up to 82 °C, although Henkel notes that this is a regional approval. It also has an NSF P1 registration for use as a sealant in food-processing areas where there is no possibility of food contact.

The current Safety Data Sheet identifies LOCTITE 243 as a threadlocker and confirms its blue liquid form and density of 1.08 g/cm³.
Please note: The general operating temperature range should not be confused with the certified temperature range for potable water contact. According to the available Henkel technical documentation, the NSF/ANSI 61 certification applies to potable water applications up to a maximum of 82 °C.
